The rules of scientific naming do not allow a species to be renamed just because the name turned out to be wrong or unfair.
Given only the evidence they had at the time, was it a fair conclusion to draw? Being wrong and being careless are not the same thing.
Search the atlas for another specimen where understanding changed. Iguanodon, Deinocheirus, Coelophysis and Spinosaurus are good places to start.

Section 5 is the pivot — it asks students to judge a past conclusion against the evidence available at the time, which is a genuinely difficult and worthwhile distinction.
Both were reasonable readings of the evidence available. That is the point of section 5.
