Most dinosaur worksheets ask what students know. These ask how anyone knows. Every sheet in the pack ends up at the same place by a different route: a claim, and the evidence behind it. That is the “working scientifically” and “nature of science” strand, which is the part of the curriculum hardest to resource and easiest to skip.

Each lesson assumes 50–70 minutes. The thread running through is: what do we know, how do we know it, and what would change it?
Sheet: Specimen Fact File. Students choose a dinosaur and research it, ending with a fact traced back to the fossil it came from. Sets the habit the whole unit depends on.
Prep: none. One blank sheet works for all 54 specimens, so a whole class can research different animals from the same printout.
Sheet: How Big, Really? Measurement and ratio, finishing outdoors by pacing a dinosaur’s length on the ground. A good second lesson because it is physical and gives the quieter students a way in.
Prep: tape measures or a trundle wheel; access to a hall, corridor or field.
Sheet: Reading Deep Time. Students find that Stegosaurus is further from T. rex than T. rex is from us, then scale the Mesozoic onto a line.
Prep: a one-metre length of string per group makes question 5 land far harder than the arithmetic alone.
Sheet: A Dinosaur in Antarctica. A plant-eating dinosaur on a continent with no plants, resolved by dragging the land back to where it was. Continental drift arrives as the answer to a puzzle.
Prep: none, but try Deep time mode yourself first so you can steer students who cannot find the control.
Sheet: What Bones Can’t Tell You. Students separate what the fossil shows from what has been reasoned, then draw a reconstruction marking evidence and invention in two colours.
Prep: two colours per student. The exercise fails without them.
Sheet: Science Changes Its Mind. Two dinosaurs misunderstood for decades and the evidence that corrected the record — with the harder question of whether the original conclusions were unreasonable at the time.
Pairs with Naming the Dead, which covers the Oviraptor episode more briefly. If you have run both, students will already know the story and can go straight to the argument.

Everything in the atlas is traceable. Fossil photographs carry author, licence and source, with casts and replicas labelled as such rather than presented as original specimens. Continental positions in Deep time come from the GPlates model published by the EarthByte group at the University of Sydney. Timeline colours follow the International Chronostratigraphic Chart. Where no correctly identified, freely licensed photograph exists, the atlas shows nothing rather than a picture of a different animal.
That last decision is worth mentioning to students. It is the difference between a resource that looks complete and one that is honest.
